KDM MARINE ANNOUNCES MERGER WITH JAMES FISHER & SONS PLC

KDM Marine is set to significantly develop its global footprint due to a merger with James Fisher Group.

Since its inception in early 2013, the company has secured a strong presence in the Western Hemisphere. This merger will allow the company to expand in its current USA and Mexico markets, as well as globally through Fisher’s network of bases.

The merger also allows an addition to its portfolio of Mass Flow Excavation services with the introduction of the Hydrodigger to its existing offer of the TwinProp technology.

Kenneth R Mackie, Managing Director of JF MFE Ltd t/a KDM Marine International, said:
“The resources and global footprint of James Fisher provides a strong platform to reach a number of international markets with our innovative technology. “Our team is made up of some of the world’s leading Mass Flow Excavation specialists, responsible for the completion of over 300 projects.
“We now have an even more impressive offering with the TwinProp and HydroDigger and we look forward to developing these tools’ positions in the marketplace.”

KDM Marine was established by Kenneth R Mackie and Keith Douglas. Its expert team includes Operations Director Graham Murdoch, Mexico Representative Jose Luis Oviedo and Houston Representative Sarah Vowell. The management team at KDM Marine International is responsible for the completion of over 300 projects in 39 countries over a period of 14 years.

The TwinProp is the latest innovation within the Mass Flow Excavation market. The tool works by channelling controllable columns of water towards the seabed to clear the likes of sand, silt and clay for pipeline and cable trenching, decommissioning and deburial purposes. The TwinProp has numerous other applications which include rock dump removal, sand wave levelling and seabed preparation.

The HydroDigger is a contactless mass flow subsea excavation system with proven success in a range of seabed formations. With rapid excavation combined with excellent reliability the fleet of five has been deployed in many projects around the world.

KDM Marine International now has an office within Fisher’s Aberdeenshire development and will continue to have bases in Houston and Mexico. The team at Fisher will provide support with engineering and maintenance.

Kenneth R Mackie added: “This is an exciting stage for the company and we strongly believe there is real synergy which will allow us to build the leading Mass Flow Excavation business in the marketplace. “We now have a fleet of six full spreads of equipment and have them strategically placed throughout the world. We aim to increase our portfolio to 10 spreads within the next 24 to 36 months allowing us to provide a comprehensive service, once again, to all our current, previous and future clients.”

The registered company name is James Fisher MFE Ltd t/a KDM Marine International, part of James Fisher & Sons PLC.
