UTEC Survey completes Apache Energy infield inspection

UTEC Survey Australia Pty Ltd has announced the completion of a major infield inspection of approximately 550km of pipelines and 20 infield structures off the northwest coast of Australia for Apache Energy.

Starting in mid-June, UTEC used two of its Gavia autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems. Survey works were carried out from the vessel Yardie Creek, with the scope of work completed in less than four weeks.
UTEC operated the two AUVs back to back, with one AUV ready to go when the other returned from a mission, which UTEC said improved operational up-time.

“The quality of data gathered and presented from an AUV survey is astonishing in terms of visible detail,” said UTEC Australia general manager, Simon Hird.

UTEC said the project was “a key target win” for the company in the region.
