CAN Group secures two choice asset-integrity contract renewals

CAN Group has secured two major contract renewals, totalling approximately $342.5m, following competitive re-tendering.

The Aberdeen-based engineering, integrity, inspection and maintenance business has been awarded a five year contract for asset integrity services to ConocoPhillips and a three year contract for topsides inspection and integrity support services with Apache in the North Sea. Both contracts have options to extend for up to a further four years.

CAN group director, Innes Walker, said the company expects to grow rapidly in the next five years in the North Sea, where demand is rising. “This is due to the greater emphasis being placed on the integrity of ageing assets and infrastructure,” he said.

ConocoPhillips first retained CAN in 1995. Now the scope of work has widened to asset integrity technical services including structural, corrosion and inspection engineering. This part of the contract will be delivered by ENGTEQ, the group’s integrity engineering business.

CAN and ENGTEQ have been working on Apache’s North Sea assets since 2007. The Apache contract renewal will see both companies continue to provide inspection and integrity engineering services including non-destructive testing, advanced inspection and innovative solutions and corrosion, structural and inspection engineering services to support the integrity management of topsides pressure systems and structures.
