Harkand secures first contract with Nexen Petroleum

Harkand has been awarded its first contract with Nexen Petroleum for inspection services work. It will deploy its remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support vessel in the long term frame agreement.

The subsea inspection, repair and maintenance firm will perform work on the Buzzard, Scott, Telford, Ettrick and Rochelle assets in the central North Sea. The scope of work includes infield pipelines and structures, export lines as well as some platform inspection.

Managing director of Harkand in Europe, David Kerr, said: “Harkand is continuing to grow rapidly both in size and capability and we welcome our new partnership with Nexen.”

Harkand will deploy the 85.4m Surf Ranger, a DP2 survey and air diving vessel featuring a helideck, 60t TTS Energy AS active heave compensated knuckle boom crane which can accommodate 69 personnel on board. It is permanently equipped with a Triton XLS work class ROV.

Harkand was launched in February 2013 through the merger of Iremis, Integrated Subsea Services (ISS) and Andrews Survey following investment by Oaktree Capital Management.

Employing close to 1,000 people at bases in Aberdeen, London, Houston, Singapore and Perth in Australia, Harkand aims to grow turnover to $1 billion in the next four years.
